Q. What is a deductible?
A. This is the amount of the claim that you will pay before the company pays. The higher the deductible, the lower the premiums and reverse is the lower your deductible the higher the premium.
Q. Why do you have to have a flood policy?
All Texas home policies exclude flood. The government offers flood insurance if you live in a flood zone at a subsidized rate as the coverage is not available on standard policies. This coverage is needed, particularly where as have shown the chance of flood to be great enough that even most lien holders will require that this coverage is purchased to obtain a loan.
Q. Why do I need to read my policy?
A. You need to be well aware of the coverage you have purchased before you have a claim. Everyone wants the best rate until they have a loss. Then they want the best coverage. We’ll help you find the right balance that fits you.
Q. What is full coverage?
A. The state defines full coverage with liability, OTC (other than collision), and collision. There are other coverages you can add. It’s always best to talk to your agent and go over the coverages available. When you’re informed, you’re empowered.
Q. Will your insurance cover you if you are driving someone else’s car?
A. It depends on the “Owners of the vehicle’s policy language”. We urge you to call your agent BEFORE you drive a friend’s car or BEFORE you let a friend drive yours.
Q. Does an auto insurance policy have to be in the same name as the loan?
A. If you have care, custody and control of the vehicle we can usually issue policy in your name but also show the actual owner as an additional interest and most of the loan companies have not given us any problems.
Q. How much does the cheapest car insurance cost?
A. Your rates depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to your credits, claim history, driving record, age, and where you live.
Q. What is an SR22?
It is a form that is sent directly to the State of Texas stating you have obtained insurance with at least the minimum limit of liability that is required by the State of Texas. If you fail to keep the insurance in force, the State is then notified and your license could be in jeopardy.
Q. What should I do if I have an accident?
Remain at the scene and do not admit fault. Call the police to report the accident. Exchange information if you can, but do not discuss details of the accident with anyone except the police and the claims department. Be sure to turn the claim into the 1-800 number on you insurance card as soon as possible. |
